PRESENT: Councillor A. Zbik (Mayor) Councillor S. Bennison, Councillor D. Brooks-Horn, Councillor K. Bryla, Councillor R Flood, Councillor B. Kennedy, Councillor K. Mort, Councillor D. Roenfeldt, and Councillor M. Southwood.

 

ALSO PRESENT: General Manager, Executive Manager – Corporate Services, Executive Manager – Environmental Services, Executive Manager – Open Space & Urban Services, Executive Manager – Human Services and Minute Taker.

 

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:

 

Councillor Brooks-Horn declared a non-pecuniary conflict of interest that is significant in relation to Item 1 ‘Sydney North Planning Panel Determination for DA 64/2021’ as his good friend lives in close proximity to the proposed facility. He indicated he would vacate the meeting and not debate or vote on the item.

Notice of Motion - Sydney North Planning Panel Determination for DA 64/2021

 

MOTION

A Motion was moved by Councillors Flood and Southwood that Council:-

1.   Advises the Sydney North Planning Panel that it formally withdraws DA 64/2021 for the Lane Cove Sport and Recreation Facility;

2.   Confirms that the two workshops from resolution 37/2022 will proceed as planned;

3.   Reaffirms Council’s intent to consider all available options to meet the demand for indoor sporting facilities in the Lane Cove area; and

4.  In relation to point three (3), receive an updated project timeline at the March Council meeting.

 

FORESHADOWED MOTION

A Foreshadowed Motion was moved by Councillors Bennison and Mort that:-

1.    DA 64/2021 be allowed to proceed to the Sydney North Planning Panel for determination;

2.    Councillors provide the General Manager by COB 1 March 2022, with questions/submissions that they would like the Sydney North Planning Panel to consider; and

3.    Once and if approved, no action is taken by Lane Cove Council in progressing the approved DA until such time that Councillors have had the opportunity to consider the approved DA in full and any possible amendments pursuant to section 4.55 of the Environment Planning & Assessment Act 1979.

Upon being put to the meeting the Motion was declared carried.

 

For the Motion were Councillors Zbik, Southwood, Roenfeldt, Kennedy, Flood and Bryla (Total 6).

Against the Motion were Councillors Bennison and Mort (Total 2).

 

The Foreshadowed Motion lapsed.

 

The meeting closed at 9:15PM.
