PRESENT: Councillor Southwood (Mayor), Councillor
Bennison, Councillor Bryla, Councillor Flood, Councillor Greenwell, Councillor
Kennedy, Councillor Little, Councillor Roenfeldt and Councillor Taylor.
ALSO PRESENT: General Manager, Director - Corporate
Services and Strategy and Minute Taker.

Item 7.1 Notice of
Motion - Formal Recognition of Civic and Executive Contribution to the Galuwa
Recreation Centre

MOTION moved by
Councillor Roenfeldt and seconded by Councillor Bennison that Council:
1. Notes that the Galuwa Recreation
Centre is a significant item of community infrastructure delivered following
more than 15 years of planning, strategic decision-making, and community
investment;
2. Acknowledges that the delivery of the
facility was dependent on sustained leadership and commitment across
successive terms of Council and senior executive management;
3. Recognises that the following individuals
made substantial and material contributions to the initiation, strategic
development, and delivery of the Galuwa Recreation Centre:
a) former Mayor Pam Palmer;
b) former Mayor Andrew Zbik;
c) former Mayor Scott Bennison;
d) former General Manager Craig Wrightson; and
e) former Councillors who served under the
stewardship of former Mayor’s Scott Bennison, Andrew Zbik, and Pam
Palmer; and
4. Resolves to formally acknowledge these
contributions by extending a Council invitation to former Mayors Pam Palmer,
Andrew Zbik, and Scott Bennison, former General Manager Craig Wrightson, and
any former Councillors who served under the stewardship of former Mayors
Scott Bennison, Andrew Zbik, and Pam Palmer, who wish to attend the official
opening of the Galuwa Recreation Centre on Friday, 6 February 2026 at 6.00
pm.

Upon being put to the meeting, the Motion
was lost.
For the Motion were Councillors Bennison and Roenfeldt
(Total 2).
Against the Motion were Councillors Southwood, Bryla,
Flood, Greenwell and Kennedy (Total 5).
Abstained from the Motion were Councillors Little and
Taylor (Total 2).
